During one of the parenting sessions, one parent inquired “Why CREATIVE GENIUS course? There are n numbers of drawing and painting courses out there, so what’s the value you are adding to the art learning scenario?”
It was an interesting observation by her, which we looked further under the lens of needs and choices of art courses.
ART CLASSES
How art classes teach?
• Standardized copying and following instructors formula
• Following series of diagram or step –by- step tricks to get a nice drawing by following instructions
• Replication of art work that can be done by camera or machine
• Showing examples are ling crutches kids are afraid to abandon.
What child learns?
• Learns to follow instructions
• Afraid of abandoning crutches of instructions to be self-engaged learner
• Learn to copy and play safe producing nice results
• End products keep parents and kids happy and proud neglecting process and learning.
• Misses instructions and confidence to draw any and every new thing they see.
Outcomes for child and parent
• Nice looking copy piece of art work

• We don’t draw for children nor ask them to copy or show them one way to draw
• We give them tools of multiple intelligence’s to explore and experience own drawing with observation and imagination.
• We motivate them to be self-sustaining learners with creative thinking tools.
• We encourage them to self-reflect and look for better outcomes.
What child learns?
• Learns to be self-engaged learner through self exploration of his/her art skills using multiple intelligence tools
• Learns to develop HABITS of creative thinking to explore innovative ways of materializing it in their worlds.
• Learn to speculate about learning and its use in future for things other than art.
• Equipped with tools of multiple intelligence s and creative thinking habits to create any new art work he wishes.
Outcomes for child and parent
• Piece of artwork with self-exploration
• Confidence with creative thinking habits and observation strategies
• On path to self-engaged learner.
